What's Going On?

Hello my friends,
I've been really busy in the past couple of weeks, but I haven't forgotten about you. First off, my family is doing great and my sister e-mailed me that she will be moving back to the Midwest. Yeah! I'm so glad that she will be closer, even though it's still "states" away.

Second, I've been enjoying the Fall weather and I wanted to show you what our house and garden looks like at this time of the year. Here it is:

The tree is in our front yard, it's really getting the gold color of autumn, but eventually we will have a lot of red in the leaves in the next couple of weeks.

I haven't shared that I got a dog this past summer. I adopted her from a local rescue organization. She's 3 years old and has never had a "fur-ever" home. Her name is Annie and she's my sweet buddy. She's part Golden Retriever and part Chow Chow. Her favorite thing to do is to chase squirrels and snuggle with me. Or maybe the snuggling part is my favorite thing to do!

I've also gotten involved with a Relay for Life Team. I'm a retired cancer nurse and the American Cancer Society (ACS) is very important to me. They do a lot of research to help with treatments for cancer and they promote a preventative life style. The picture below shows the people that are part of the Leadership Team. We met at my house and as you can see, we love to eat as we work on trying to think of ideas for funding our team for ACS.

As you can see, it's been a busy couple of weeks, but, I can't forget about card making and scrap booking. I've been working on 2012 scrapbook...yes...I'm that far behind. I've also been working on the November Stamp Camp and here is a picture of one of the cards we will make:

Sorry about the glare in this picture, but you can get the idea. I hope you'll be able to make it to the November Stamp Camp and make this card. We have a lot of fun and I love to teach so, don't worry if you don't know anything about card-making!

Take care,

Grateful for October

I love this card with the layers and rustic elements. This is another card that the Stamp Camp group will be doing this coming Saturday, Oct. 17th. It can be used as a thank you card or as a Thanksgiving card. I'm also thinking of making some decorations for the Thanksgiving table in the same design to hold the silverware and place each persons name instead of "grateful" on the design. Won't that be cute? Once I get one done, I'll post it so that you can copy it.

I was trying a new technique with these cards. I used watercolor paper and colored the background with beautiful fall colors. I used Marina Mist, Tangelo Twist, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and & Soft Suede. I taped it down on my desk before starting and then saturated the paper with water, then I started to apply the color. I love how it turned out. I stamped the trees and words in Memento Black and fussy cut around the trees. I love that it shows the new Woodland Textured Embossing Folder from Stampin' UP! in the background.

Randy and I have been cleaning up the yard and it looks pretty empty, but the autumn colors are starting to show in Southwestern Michigan. Today, will be another beautiful day...Indian the 70's and I'm going to enjoy it by sitting on my swing and reading "art" books.

Take care,

Boo, It's Halloween!

I had a lot of fun creating this card and we'll be making it at Stamp Camp on October 17th. I used some retired punches to add to the card; the border and bat from Stampin' UP! The stamps are current and I especially love the "FaBOOlous" stamp. I had to get it, so I pretended I was a Hostess and spent enough for product that I got it. I also used a product called "Wink of Stella". I know, I know, it's been around for awhile, but I couldn't find it in my area. I got it in a craft store in Sturgis, MI when I was at a retreat. Yes, shopping is permitted during the retreat!

I need those times to re-group and rejuvenate, not only with my friends, but also with my God. Geez, we get so busy that we forget who is really in charge. It's funny, I usually don't stop...I want to do it all, but then, God gives me a STOP sign that says you're doing too much. The STOP sign is usually my health, and last week was no different. I got two injections in my lumbar area of my back because I've been in so much pain that I couldn't walk more than 10 minutes. The injections helped a lot, but I experienced some side effects from the steroid that lasted 4 days. No fun, and my sleep schedule has been completely off, too. Well, enough of my issues...God is good and He has helped me to grow through all of these problems. Isn't that what it's all about, stampingcharacter on my soul and in my mind.

I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I hope you can join me at one of my events. Just take a look at my website at  to find out dates and times.

Take care,

I Can't Wait!

I just got a peak of the new Holiday Catalog from Stampin' UP! and...OH MY GOSH, it is awesome. I can't wait to show you all of the new products that are available, 50 pages of beautiful and delightful stamps and accessories. The only problem is that I will have to wait until mid-August to share it with you. As soon as Stampin' UP! says I can show it to my friends, I will, and then we can OOH and AAH it together!

In the meantime, I'm getting ready for July's stamp camp. Prepping for my camp is so much fun for me! I love the cutting and the organizing part...weird, huh? Anyway, I wanted to show you the cards we'll be making on Saturday. Here they are:

July Stamp Camp Cards

Three of them are made with our newest stamp sets, (from L to R) Sheltering Tree which came out this past spring. Sprinkles of Life which is this years Ronald McDonald House stamp set. For every stamp set sold, Stampin' UP! gives $3.00 to RMDH. Garden in Bloom is the next stamp set and I love it because I get to do a two-step stamping technique which is loads of fun (or frustration LOL)! The last card is made from Summer Silhouettes which I've had for quite a while, but I wanted to try to make it look like Queen Ann's Lace. Some folks just call that a weed, but to me it brings back great memories of hiking through the woods and meadows up north in Michigan when Mark and Ben were about 5 & 6 years old. Anyway, I tried embossing the flower part with white embossing powder and I think it came out pretty good.

So, that's what I'll be doing Saturday and I can't wait to see my friends and share it with them!

Also, I haven't forgotten my garden this month. So, I'm going to share some of my pictures of how it's doing. Here they are:

Well, that's about it for now! I have to get back to prepping for Stamp Camp! See you soon, I hope!

Stamp Camp is coming up on Saturday, so, I'm beginning to prep for it. I hope you can come to the camp and enjoy the fellowship. I'm excited about these projects because these are new stamps to me. These are the projects that we'll be doing:

Every time I read "happy birthday" Thanks Facebook, I start giggling! I think this card will be a hit with my Facebook friends. The other's are just pretty! We will be doing a bit of stamping, coloring and embossing. I'll show the crafters a couple of new techniques and we'll swap stories and have fun. That's what it's all about!

My garden is growing like mad! Let me show you a picture:

This is the dark pink peony in my yard. What's so special is that I received these from my Mother-In-Law, Vera Pollack and I have a whole row of them, so that I can think of her each time they bloom! I wish I had the power to help you smell their wonderful perfume that fills my yard, but alas, I don't have the power, but, come on over and sit with me and enjoy the scents of Spring and Summer in Michigan!

See you soon,
