Home Sick........

I'm home sick and recuperating from whatever crud I got. I haven't been this sick in years, but with the help of chicken noodle soup, tea & lemon, a great medical doctor and a great doctor of chiropractic, I think I'm on the mend. I still feel exhausted, but, I'm getting there. Each day is a blessing and each day I get better. I hope to go back to work next week (huh...did I just say that...?). Yes, I do hope to get back in the swing. It's no fun being sick.

Since, I've been home and since I need to feel accomplished in something, I have been working on cards for the May Stamp Camps. I'm very excited about all the new stamps & papers. An example of one of our cards we're going to make is posted above. I can't wait to show you all the rest of the stamps including the new accessories...like...SMOOCH SPRITZ!

I'm also going to have a special Recipe Card Class at the end of May and I think you'll want to make the cute recipe cards for yourself and all of your friends. I think they'll be so cute to hand out with a loaf of your favorite bread or a jar of pickles that you canned from your garden. I got the idea from another demonstrator and I just want to give you a sneak peak, so, that's what the picture is at the top of the post. It will be a lot of fun, but, you'll need all of your gear for this one!

Well, I think I'm going to go back and lay down. So, happy stamping my friends!

Mother's Day Purse Scrapbook

Well, I just posted another class on my Stampin' Up! Website. I hope you go there and take a look at all of the stamping opportunities coming up in April. I had a dream last night about a purse scrapbook that I made a couple of years ago, and I wanted to make it again and offer it as a class. Unfortunately the original purse was made with the Carousel Notes, which, Stampin' Up! no longer makes. So, I had to come up with my version using items available now from Stampin' Up! It has taken me all day to figure out the new dimensions and such...but...my prototype is done. Now, all I have to do is write the directions and I'll be ready for the class. I hope you can make it to this one...we'll be doing the purse in Spring and Summer colors, so, don't be put off by my choice of colors. I always use what I have, while I'm working out the details. Well, I hope to see you at one of the stamp camps or classes!

1st Day of our trip

Well, I'm sitting here in the hotel, trying to recapture the day. I can't sleep. Randy's snoring like a "choo, choo train" and I have to let him get it out of his system before I try to go to sleep again.

We got a late start this morning because Randy and I both worked late on Friday. Instead of trying to get everything packed on Friday night by myself, after an exhausting day, I decided to wait until this morning to pack. So, we didn't hit the road until about 0845. It was just drizzling when we left, but as we traveled south, the rain became steady. It was a gray and rainy day until we got about 50 miles north of Nashville. We were tired and it was close to 1700 so we started making plans to find a hotel in Murfreesboro. The rain stayed away so we could walk to the Cracker Barrel down the road from the hotel. It felt good to stretch and get out for awhile.

I love our road trips. We enjoy each others company and we chat early on in the trip, then fall into a comfortable silence and just enjoy the scenary. We don't need to talk, I guess because we don't have to fill the silence with idle chatter, not like my Mom or his Mom used to do. We used to comment on that through the years, when both Mom's were alive. It seemed as if that generation felt it was "rude" not to talk. There never was a lull in conversation, and I remember when I was a teenager how I actually could answer questions that my Mom asked me, but then never remember that I did. Do you think that was selective hearing on my part? Probably. It's funny how pieces of your childhood seep into your memory at different times. I wonder if it annoyed my Mom when I did that...I think it did...but as a teen I didn't really care if I annoyed her. Now, it would be different. I wish my Mom and Randy's Mom were still here. I miss my Mom when I hear someone speaking Czech, and I wish I could somehow connect with them...if not by language...but maybe by learning what it's like living in another country. One of these days I would like to go there and find out what my Mom's country is like.

Well, the "choo, choo train" has gotten to the "end of the line" and finally is quiet, so, I guess I'll try to go to sleep again. Tomorrow is another day of travel. We should get to Heather and Don's by suppertime. I can't wait to see them and their new place.

Spring!

Scallop Envelope Sixxix Die Basket

Color Challenge: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum and Soft Suede

Picnic Parade Clear Stamp Challenge

Color Challenge: More Mustard, Basic Gray, Soft Suede

Challenge: Crystal Effects & Glitter

Challenge: Pastels Technique

Guess what I saw in my neighbors yard? Daffodils coming up! Ok, they are against the house and on the west side of their house, but, it's so nice to see the spring flowers coming up. Mine are still under some snow because they are in a more shady spot, but doesn't it give you hope for warmer weather?

As I was thinking about Spring, I also thought about Easter and how fast it's approaching. Yesterday I was working on some Easter Basket favors for my demo group and I was having so much fun with the "In Colors" paper from Stampin' Up! I decided to make the baskets from those colors because they are so bright and cheery! I also filled them with bunnies made from punches and the Pick-A-Petal stamp set. Some of my stamp campers made these little bunnies last year. They're so quick and fun to make! The basket is made from the small envelope sizzix die. I got the pattern off of the Stampin' Up! web site, and I thought it was a clever idea for the use of that die. I wish we had time this month in Stamp Camp to make them, but, our focus was on Coaster Squash Books. Hopefully, I'll be able to show them how to make these boxes in the future.

Coaster Squash Book

Speaking of the squash books, I've had a lot of requests to have another class, so, watch for future classes to make these little books. They are so much fun and make great gifts for your loved ones.

Well hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Super Bowl Sunday

Well it's football time again...the most sought after TV drama will enfold itself tonight. The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints will duke it out in front of millions of viewers. I love football...not necessarily professional football, but it will do. Especially during the Super Bowl. I generally like to watch college football because I think it's more exciting because the kids are so excited about the game. I've only been to one college football game, and it was a few years ago when Mark was at Purdue. It was a lot of fun.

Football is one of the topics of conversation with my boys, we talk about some of the plays and commiserate about the bad ones. It's a link I have with my boys...sports. They love the Redwings and follow them religiously when they're playing. They also love the Bears, and debate with their Dad about the Lions. Ben is in Seattle now, so he's interested in the Sea Hawks, and Mark is in Chicago...so he watches the Bears and Blackhawks. In the summer we are follow some of the baseball teams, and of course, Randy & I still follow the St. Joe Bears VS Lakeshore Lancers.

So, what are you going to do this evening? Are you going to watch the game? Or, will you be doing something else? I might stamp/scrap during the game to keep my hands busy because I don't want to place high calorie items in my mouth. I'm still trying to follow my Healthy Living Lifestyle plan. I don't want to destroy it, now. I've been doing pretty good on the plan.

Well, I hope you have an awesome Sunday with family or friends and let the best team win today!
